Is a KETO diet good for Prediabetics?

#1

When I was first diagnosed with prediabetes, I followed a strict keto diet which limited carbohydrate consumption to 20 grams per day in a 1200 calorie diet. My blood sugar stayed within a range of 90 - 100 and I was very pleased.
Regrettably, my hair started falling out and my vision (I have macular degeneration) deteriorated considerably.
I increased carbs to 50 to 100 grams per day and calories to 1500 per day. My hair stopped falling out and my vision deterioration seemed to have stopped but did not improve.
The downside of this change is that my fasting blood sugar is higher, usually 115 - 125.
I am at loss as to how many carbohydrates, fats and protein are best for me.
